Dear all,
Currently I have a SBS 1-NIC setup but I now want to turn to a 2-NIC system as i feel SBS will operate better. also it will provide additional firewall protection to server and 2 pc's behind it.
CURRENT NET TOPOLOGY:
DLINK-adsl-router-firewall <----- Linksys PBX
<----- Linksys phone 1
<----- Linksys phone 2
<----- Linksys 8 port switch
<---- SBS server
<---- PC 1
<---- PC 2
<---- Printer
<----- Scanner
DESIRED SBS STYLE NET TOPOLOGY:
DLINK <----- Linksys PBX
<----- Linksys phone 1
<----- Linksys phone 2
<----- SBS server WAN NIC
<---- SBS server LAN NIC
<---- Linksys 8 port switch
<---- PC 1
<---- PC 2
<---- Printer
<----- Scanner
QUESTION:
do i just activate LAN nic again.
do i manually adjust DHCP settings etc
or do i just run the CEICW wizard and head for the internet section and it magically takes care of things.
any tips or pointers are welcome.
I saw references when googling to setting both WAN and LAN interfaces of SBS to have a DNS ip = to server LAN ip but how will it know to contact the 2 broadband provider Digiweb DNS servers?
must i manually add these by running the DNS configuration in the forwarders section?
also with a 2 NIC setup the SBS firewall will kick into action. I do not have a webserver or email coming into sbs exchange. I just have thunderbird asking for email from the digiweb mail servers (email managed off site).
i presume that the SBS firewall has the usual policy of permiting all outgoing requests and internal requests and deny all incoming. So my guess is when my 2 pc's do a web search and thunderbird polls for email that it will happen without having to write any rules.
regards,
Will.

a better representation of topology:
DLINK <-- Linksys PBX
<-- Linksys phone 1
<-- Linksys phone 2
<-- Linksys 8 port switch
<-- SBS server 1-NIC
<-- PC 1
<-- PC 2
<-- Printer
<-- Scanner
DESIRED SBS STYLE NET TOPOLOGY:
DLINK <-- Linksys PBX
<-- Linksys phone 1
<-- Linksys phone 2
<-- SBS server WAN NIC
<-- SBS server LAN NIC
<-- Linksys 8 port switch
<-- PC 1
<-- PC 2
<-- Printer
<-- Scanner
regards,
Will.

it seems the network topology did not come out right again with my indented text and arrows!
currently there is a Dlink adsl 4 port router/firewall.
directly connected to it is the pbx, 2 phones, and 8 port switch.
to the 8port switch is connected the SBS 1-NIC, 2 pc's, network printer and scanner.
Desired new topology is:
Dlink router with pbx, 2 phones, SBS WAN NIC
to the SBS LAN NIC connect the 8 port switch
to the 8 port switch connect the 2 pcs and printer/scanner.
my question is still the same as how to achieve this?
